I was born and raised in California as a native speaker of English, but was given the opportunity to travel and experience other cultures and languages. I quickly picked up other languages and became fascinated by the sound structures and why people pronounced things the way they did. I grew to love linguistics and especially the language I had always been speaking, English.
I am a native speaker of English and have a bachelor’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). My teaching experience has covered a broad range of areas. I have taught for over ten years in public and private programs to all different levels of language learners. My students have included international students, college students, refugees, and corporate clients.
I enjoy working with all my students. They always create an interesting and exciting learning environment, which allows me to offer a variety of learning techniques and strategies. My teaching philosophy is to give my students information and offer them the correct tools to use the information. I am the key to a locked door. My students need to pick up the key and unlock the door and see what awaits them on the other side.
I am very well rounded, always open to new ideas, and have much to offer. My flexibility and commitment to my students is what makes learning in my classroom so successful. I have watched a number of my students go on to be top performing college students and highly ranked professionals. My students have gained much self-confidence by improving their English and reducing their accents, which has given them the ability to be more successful.
